Although I have studied many powerful topics such as manifestation, healing, and consciousness from top teachers around the globe, I received the most powerful guiding principle of my life from Universal Love itself. During an arduous healing ceremony, Divine Love taught me that we must live in beauty if we are going to flourish, and then it was demonstrated to me to my astonishment, “Beauty is Strength.”
Please don’t believe me, though. Instead, try this simple experiment to determine if this is true. Find a small barbell, 5-20 lbs. Do bicep curls by lifting the weight for three repetitions. Take a moment to assess how easy or hard that was. On a scale of 1-10, how hard was it to lift the weight? Notice the sensations of lifting the weight. How did it feel, and where did you feel it?
Now, pause momentarily and bring your mind’s awareness to your greatest enemy, regret, or struggle. Allow the last conflict you experienced regarding this issue to rise to the top of your consciousness. Feel the raw emotion in your body as you mentally review the disturbing incident.
Now lift the same weight for three reps. How does it feel? Do you feel weaker? It will feel weaker if you have a healthy mind-body connection that enables you to feel your body’s subtleties. This experience demonstrates that the fidelity of the mind-body connection can be so strong that we can not focus on a struggle without our physical body weakening.
As Consciousness Athletes, we raise our bar on what we are willing to tolerate in this world. We strive to maintain a beautiful environment in our minds and hearts at all times so we remain strong. The stark contrast between the two states is obvious after observing ourselves living from beauty and not living from beauty. We gain tremendous clarity about why we choose to live from the perspective of fostering beauty. We become convinced that we must keep our internal well full of goodwill and sweetness so we have the reserves required to face serious life challenges with dignity and honor.
When we face challenges by searching for beauty first, we access the maximum internal resources within us, ensuring we respond with greater creativity and resourcefulness. We know that if we are not focusing on something that strengthens us, w weaken, dramatically reducing our efficacy and, especially, our enjoyment!
Searching for beauty can be extraordinarily counterintuitive in dire circumstances. However, as Consciousness Athletes, we seek to develop command over our nervous system to override this resistance. We seek to find the light of beauty in the darkest places because we know it will sustain us.
This revelation from the Divine finally answered a funny conundrum I often pondered. Years ago, someone shared with me a famous Persian quote. However, he misquoted this famous proverb, which literally kept me pondering it’s meaning for over two decades.
“If one only has 2 dollars, use one to buy bread and one to buy a Hyacinth.”
I could not stop thinking about this quote for years. It was such a puzzle. Really?? Buy a flower if you are broke and hungry? That can’t be true, I thought!
As I became nourished by beauty, I felt I finally had solved the puzzle of this quote! I grinned from ear to ear the day it’s meaning was revealed to me similar to how I assume a Zen koan answer would be revealed. I recognized the truth. I came to understand how even if I had massive wealth, I would wilt if there was no beauty in my life
The meditations accompanying my book, Become A Consciousness Athlete – A Step By Step Program to Heighten Consciousness for Daily Happiness, were written to invite people to make their way to beauty and then to learn to “endure” bliss states. Believe it or not, many of us have become what I refer to as “emotional diabetics,” unable to metabolize sweetness as evidenced by the viciousness in the news.
Our souls need beauty!
Here is the irony about beauty…beauty surrounds us, extending forever. That is right….forever! We are the only ones who block it. When you start playing with this, you will know exactly what I mean!
For fun, start playing with increasing your ability to invoke sweetness and see just how much beauty you can tolerate. You may discover, you are not that good at holding beauty! But that is the good news, it means you have an entirely new reservoir of goodness to explore within yourself.
Be sure to enjoy the additional strength as well.
Enjoy!
